Ebooks: Increase Your Income From Each Ebook You Write

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

You’ve created a new business selling ebooks, and you want to make more sales of each ebook you write. Let’s explore how you can do this with four simple ways.

1. Sell a pre-launch version of your ebook. I always recommend to writers that they start selling the ebook while they’re writing it. You can do this very easily by creating a blog.

A blog is a way to generate some buzz about your ebook before your official launch. Your blog gives you the opportunity to get feedback from your readers, so you can learn more about what they want to see in your ebook.

When you promote your ebook this way, you have a chance to offer a pre-launch special offer. Start a mailing list for potential buyers before you’re ready for your actual launch. Come up with an irresistible offer for them. When you are ready to launch your ebook, send an email to these subscribers to let them know it’s available. Since they already signed up as showing interest, many will buy it.

2. Make an ezine out of the information in your ebook. After you have launched and have begun to sell ebooks, think about capitalizing on what you’ve written. One simple way is to use your topic to write a monthly ezine. Write twelve issues or more, and offer the ezine as an additional option for your buyers.

Your ebook’s ezine could be a completely new product, to which you sell subscriptions, or you could offer it as an upsell to buyers of your ebook.

3. Use the information from your ebook to create a podcast series. Podcasts (audio files for download, generally MP3 files) offer a benefit to buyers. They don’t have to sit in front of the computer. They can put the podcast on their audio player and can listen in the car, in the gym, or wherever they go.

You can create the podcasts yourself. Or, if you don’t know how (or don’t want to), you can hire someone else to create them for you. However you do it, creating podcasts can help you make more from your ebook.

4. Write a version of your ebook for advanced users. There are always more steps for buyers to learn beyond your ebook. So, try writing an advanced version for your readers who are ready for more. You can write this sequel to either provide greater detail on your subject, or as additional, new material.

Say you wrote an ebook on how to diet. The advanced edition can include diet plans and recipes. You can either offer it as an upsell, or offer it separately from the original ebook.

As you are writing ebooks, remember these four great tips. They will help you sell ebooks more effectively, and make more money from each ebook you create.

Ebooks: How To Write An Ebook In 24 Hours

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Would you believe that you can write your own ebook in just one day? You can, and these tips can show you how. Your first ebook can be a little scary, but imagine the surge of confidence when you’re finished. And in just 24 hours.

I know of many writers who have been chopping away at the same ebook for a year or more. They may never get finished. They’ve lost their focus, and their excitement for their product. When that happens, it’s hard to get that spark back.

Big tip: an ebook is an information product. It’s not a poor facsimile of a print book. It contains short and useful information which the reader can put into action right away. Here’s how to write your ebook in 24 hours.

Step one in ebook writing is to take stock of what you know well. It’s easy to pass over skills that you use all the time, but you probably know something that others will gladly pay to know. Whether you think it’s useful or not doesn’t matter, you have skills that are valuable to others.

So, take a little time to relax and just think about your life experiences. Maybe you got some great old cooking tips or recipes from your grandmother. That’s an idea for an ebook right there.

Make a list of ideas. If you spend half an hour doing this, you’ll come up with many ideas — more than you could write in a year. Settle on an idea. It doesn’t have to be great to you — you know this stuff, so it will seem pedestrian to you, but others will pay for what you know.

After you’ve chosen your topic, start making an outline. Don’t worry about pleasing your English teacher, keep it simple. Just make a list. Write down everything that needs to be in your ebook. Next, just begin writing, adding to your outline’s skeleton until you’ve completely explained all of your points.

Now, look at what you have. If you’ve covered everything you planned, the information is complete, and it’s at least ten pages or longer, then you’re finished with the main body of your ebook.

You’ve now written the body of your ebook, and your next step is to write an introduction. In your introduction, your primary task is to inspire the reader. For example, tell a couple of funny stories about your grandma, if you’re writing a recipe book.

That’s it. You’re done with your ebook writing. You just need a title. Just have a quick brainstorming session and think of as many possible titles as you can - try for twenty. Then choose one.

You’ve completed your ebook. Proofread it by reading it aloud into a digital recorder. Listen to it. Add information, and delete information: tinker with it until it’s as good as you can make it.

Before it’s ready to offer to the public, read your ebook out loud to your family, or maybe a few friends. If it sounds good, all that’s left to do is convert it to PDF format. That’s it — and it can be done today, and sold tomorrow.

Writing ebooks and other information products and selling them online is a great home business. It’s fast, and you can build a consistent high income. Angela offers a free writing tips ezine for you to build your business quickly.

Writing And Selling Ebooks: A Great Way To Make Money Online

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Want to make great money writing? You can when you write ebooks. Ebooks are big business online. Buyers want information and they’re happy to buy it in ebook form because they get instant gratification.

Some ten years ago, a copywriting client hired me to write ebooks for him. It was enjoyable, and I became known as an ebook writer for hire. Soon I realized that if I was writing for others, I could write my own ebooks and electronic info products, and could sell them. I got a great education when I created these products for others: I got paid to learn.

Unfortunately many ebooks will never sell more than ten copies, for a number of reasons. There’s a lot involved in creating best-selling ebooks, and you need to learn what works.

Learn the ropes by writing ebooks for businesses. The freelance job websites have many of these projects. Doing a few of them is a great way to learn how to write an ebook that sells.

It doesn’t matter whether your client is after his or her first ebook or has already sold many of them. You can learn a lot either way.

Don’t worry about the time spent writing for others. Think of it as on-the-job education as you work toward your million-dollar ebook creation career.

While you’re producing these first ebooks, ideas for your own ebooks will pop into your head. List them and start narrowing them down to the best options. Keep in mind that successful ebooks are those that offer details that paying customers want.

For each idea, find out whether people are paying for that kind of information already. Also, check for forums on your topic. If people are talking about your topic, they’re interested, and will probably be willing to pay for information.

As you learn which subjects are salable and produce ebooks about them, you can make a healthy income. Have fun with this great chance that is open to everyone, including you.

Write Ebooks And Build Any Career Fast

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

While you may know how to write ebook products, you may not have thought much about why you should. Even if you hated English composition, you’d benefit from creating at least one ebook.

Ebooks were mooted as the “next big thing” in the 1990s, and I’ve been happily writing them for many years. Today, they are the big thing: we all need information, and electronic books let us consume that information wherever we are, and whenever we wish. The benefits of writing ebooks are enormous. Let’s look at what they are.

1. Want to be an instant authority in your field? There’s no quicker way to do so than by producing your own ebook. Just as a conventional book conveys that you know a lot about something, so does an ebook.

2. If you want a promotional item that helps keep you in the mind of your clients and potential clients, you can do no better than producing a well-written ebook. You’ll come to mind when they need the services you offer.

3. You don’t need a whole lot of time to produce an ebook. With persistence, you can produce an ebook in a week because all you have to do is collate some articles in a way that is understandable to your readers, and combine it with such items as a table of contents and a cover. It’s a quick and easy process that doesn’t have to go through the standard publishing process that could take months.

4. Just as you don’t have to wait for a publishing house or distributor to complete their part of the process, you also don’t have to share the profits from your ebook either. Most ebook writers produce and distribute their own works and reap the significant financial rewards.

5. Because ebooks are generally distributed online, they are a great way to establish your corner of the World Wide Web, where seemingly everyone is searching for usable information. By gathering the contact information from those who buy your ebook, you will know who is interested in other services you may have to offer.

6. Have you ever felt that you have a book inside you, but were too scared to commit to it? Because ebooks are shorter (fewer than 50 pages, compared to at least twice that much for a traditional book), they are less intimidating to plan and write. You can test the water, so to speak, by writing an ebook before getting involved in larger projects.

Are you convinced that writing an ebook can help your business, whether you are a writer or not? Then what are you waiting for?

Make Money Writing Ebooks And Be Your Own Boss

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Do you want to make money at home? The best way to earn a great income on your own terms is by writing ebooks. Here we’ll give you a basic overview of this great opportunity.

Many people still envision writers as starving in a garret while trying to become the next Shakespeare or Dickens. They think life as a writer involves waiting months before a publishing house issues yet another rejection slip. They couldn’t be more wrong.

I started writing and selling ebooks online ten years ago, and enjoy it, because of the instant feedback. You can write an ebook in a week, sell it online within hours, and get reader input on your next ebooks.

While writing a best-selling novel is still the dream for most writers, there are countless other ways to make a great income as a writer. ebooks are taking the place of traditional books. This is a great boon to writers because they can publish and distribute the books themselves. Readers can readily download those books instantly to their computers and e-readers.

In addition, because ebooks often cost more than traditional books so writers can actually earn more. Readers are more than willing to pay for information they can access instantly.

You will be amazed at how easy it is to write an ebook. Write several short articles on a topic of interest: raising heirloom roses, for example. As long as you compile those articles into book form in a way that makes sense to a beginning gardener, you can have your ebook available for sale in a week or less.

Marketing and selling an ebook is easy, too. There are many websites designed to help writers find affiliates for their products. They merely need to register their ebooks with the site according to the site’s directions. People look for products to market, select the ebooks best suited to their website or blog and arrange to have a link to the ebook embedded in their website. When a visitor to that website clicks on that link and buys the ebook, the website owner generally gets a share of the profits.

This is a great situation because both the writer and the affiliate win. The affiliate finds readers for the ebook. The writer gets additional sales for his or her wares, if the writer and affiliate have done things correctly, they also will develop lists of purchasers as potential buyers of future products.

Ebooks are a great way to make money online. They are easy to create and can be sold easily for a surprising amount of money. What are you waiting for? Start your ebook now.

You Don’t Have to be a Genius to Write an Ebook

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Would you like to try and write an ebook? If so, what is stopping you? If you have always thought it was too complicated, think again. You don’t need to learn complicated programs or have excellent writing skills. What you need are desire, effort, and a belief in yourself.

Before you do anything, you need to have the software to compile an ebook. There are plenty of places on the Internet where you can find this for free. One of the easiest to use can be found at a website called Open Office. It works just like any word processor, and it comes with full instructions.

As with any large project, writing is much easier when broken down into small bits. If you have a plan to follow, any fear you may have about the actual writing process can be overcome. It is a mistake to try and begin a book without a definite goal to aim for.

Before you do any actual writing, ask yourself why you want to write an ebook. Do you intend to sell it for profit? Maybe you will use it as a bonus to promote a website. Either way, it’s always best to write about a subject that interests you and that you know something about.

Now try to come up with a couple different titles for your manuscript. Even if you don’t actually use any of them for the completed book, they will help you concentrate on the subject you are writing about. Simply thinking them up and writing them down can give you a small feeling of accomplishment.

At this point you should begin the actual core of the book. You will have the best results if you simply write as you would speak to a friend. Be yourself, in other words. Don’t worry about getting everything perfect, because you will need to come back later to proofread.

It is important to understand that you will almost always revise large parts of your book. That’s what makes ebook writing so much easier than other formats. It’s very simple to do such tasks as spell checking and rearranging paragraphs, for example.

After you’ve finished your book, it is time to think about its overall appearance. The fact is that most people don’t print out an ebook to read offline. Instead, they usually view it from a computer screen, so you can make your book easier for them to read if you make the font larger than normal.

Your first attempt to write an ebook may not be as successful as you would like. This should not discourage you. The simple fact that you made the effort to write one should give you some satisfaction. Keep at it, and it will become much easier with practice.

E-book Royalty: How Much Could You Get As a Writer?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

In order to achieve success with his newest e-book project, any writer must think about the business side of things before he starts creating. For finishing a quality ebook is not an easy or uncomplicated job. And assuming that he is not just into writing for the thrill of it, he must carefully take into account different royalty models before he goes on.

The general idea behind the concept of “royalties” is of course that it is a measure of the amount of money you might make from the sales of a certain product. However, when you are evaluating a royalties contract you should also weigh in other factors — factors that could be even more important for you to ponder. Such factors could be, for instance, your ability to end the contract prematurely, or the question of the exact time of the payments.

Here in this article, however, I will limit myself to an account of the total amount of royalties a writer can expect to generate when using different types of royalty deals. For brevity’s sake, I shall only list four royalties models, although there are other types of arrangements as well.

1. Publisher’s “List Price Percentage” Royalties

The first model that is seen at major publishing houses is the “List Price Percentage” model. This is probably the easiest one to calculate, since it only involves two factors: the list price and the author’s percentage. In such a model, the author typically gets between 10 and 20 percent of the e-book list price.

An illustration: An e-book sells for $20 and the contract says that the author will make 15 percent of the list price from the sale of every e-book. So the author can expect to be paid a royalty of $3 per ebook (0.15 x 20).

Big publishing houses such as Random House and Simon & Schuster have previously used this type of arrangement for contracts with ebook authors. Nowadays, however, these and other publishers are moving on to the second model, the “Net Receipts” model.

2. Publisher’s “Net Receipts Percentage” Royalties

Another type of arrangement is the “Net Receipts Percentage” model. Just like the previous one, this model is (or has been) used at many major publishing houses. This model is increasingly popular among publishers, and probably will be even more so in the future. As of now, Macmillan, Random House, and Simon & Schuster are using it.

In this royalties scenario, the net sales of the ebook is the chief number around which the calculation of the royalty amount revolves. The percentage number most frequently used in this type of arrangement is between 10 and 25 percent.

For example, assume that an ebook sells for a list price of $18. Also assume that the publisher arrives at the net sales figure as 60 percent of the net proceeds. If now the author has an arrangement where he gets 15 percent of the net sales, then he would, in this example, look at something like $1.62 per ebook (18 x 0.60 x 0.15).

3. Self-Publisher’s “Flex-Price Net Receipts Percentage” Royalties

The third option would be to publish your ebook all on your own, but nevertheless use one or several retailers and distributors to promote and sell it. For example, you could use distribution channels such as Lulu.com.

Here, the author should receive a certain percent of the net sale of the ebook, and in that way it is pretty similar to the second model. However, with the “Flex-Price Net Receipts Percentage” royalties system, the author’s percentage per book will be noticeably higher.

Another benefit for the author when comparing it to the second model, is that he might get more control over the product development. Not only will he be able to have more power of the editing and design, but he will also, most importantly, be able to set the list price himself.

4. Self-Publisher’s “Full List Price” Royalties

The fourth model is built on the idea that the author not only publishes the book himself, but also markets it himself. So in this particular model there are no external distribution channels or external retailers to worry about.

Even though there may be no distributors or external retailers to be concerned with, the author may here need more technology to set up some kind of e-business solution. Note, however, that the technical aspects of selling products online may not be as overwhelming as many think. Relatively simple-to-integrate payment processing solutions such as PayPal.com work well.

At any rate, the amount of royalties to be projected from this fourth arrangement is fairly easy to estimate, as you will keep all the proceeds for yourself. Naturally, though, depending on the particular solution you are using, you may wish to adjust the figures, in order to properly account for costs related to services such as the site or blog hosting or your payment processing, etc.

Conclusion

It may not be entirely easy to determine which scenario suits you the best. One issue is, for example, how interested you are in marketing. If you are very interested in promoting your own ebook or ebooks online, then royalty scenarios 3 and 4 may very well be good for you.

However, if you are mainly a writer, and not so keen on internet marketing, it might not be a bad idea to aim at the first and second royalty models. The downside with these two models is, unfortunately, that it is not so easy to get published; but if you don’t get lucky, you can always try models three and four as your plan B.

Internet Marketing With e-Books

Friday, January 29th, 2010

You can have a raise your sales margin and thus make money with online promotions as there are many approaches in this field. Even though all forms of marketing methods can help you to earn more money, there are some which can enable you to earn more benefits. One of such profitable mode of income in online promotions is the E-books making as this can make you earn loads of bucks. But one thing needed in making ebooks a profitable mode of income is the technique to write in a skilled manner.

To take the views of the customers regarding your products or services you need to do some research in market. Once you know that which slot is being demanded more by the web users its then that you have to start the publishing of the e-books. Survey conducted in market will be supportive to promote your products, services or brands. It will let you understand what your customers want in your e-book. It is necessary to do research in market because though your e-book may contain much information but in customer view point it may be unnecessary. If you are not sure about the market survey then you can create some articles on various topics and release them on web to know their demand. You will always see that the niche which is high in demand will be able to generate a lot of visitors. This will help you on creating good e-books on various demanded topics.

Since you’ll be using the book for your online marketing and it would represent your business, it is important that it has the right flow. Hence you should determine the structure of the book and the list of topics you want included before you actually start writing. You can employ an expert to write an e-book for you instead of writing the e-book by your own. One thing that you can do being an educative person is give suggestions and information to the professional that is going to write the e-book which will help you to get the content that you desire to provide to the consumers.

Picture are one important thing which are to be included in the ebooks while creating them. You can thus drive in many people’s attention and make them go through your book by these pictures. Do remember to make use of focal aspects which will highlight it to the internet users and they will be attracted to your electronic book.

Do not forget to make an eye catching cover for your book while working on formation of an ebook. It is necessary to give a good cover page in order to attract more users to your website. Make sure that you read the entire ebook once you have finished all the steps and united it together. Take note of the point that all the links are active and mentioned appropriately in your e-book.

You can release the electronic book on your site link or through press releases. If you wish to create credibility for your business; you must promote electronic books in advance and give them for free, get their good reviews and post them. Once you have your eBook being circulate for free or a nominal cost you can be sure that it will be of great help in attaining more traffic and hence more business.

I’ve done very well promoting my sites by writing ebooks. For example, I created an ebook promoting my Magic Article Submitter article and I was able to jump start traffic to my site right away.

Rewriting Your PLR Articles and E-books: Some Great Tips On How To Do It

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

If you are struggling to succeed with ebook marketing, PLR products (Private Label Rights) could give you some serious advantages. PLR products are normally not only quite inexpensive, but they also will save you from lots of research and writing. Using PLR ebooks and articles are consequently a great way to create a decent ROI (return on investment).

But there are dangers lurking with PLR products. The idea is that many online business owners are already using PLR e-books and articles in a very organized way, in order to make more money. This means that the very same PLR articles and ebooks may have been used tens or hundreds of times in various places online to produce “new” articles and e-books, with or without those business owners having extensively modified it.

How to Succeed with PLR

The key to success with PLR material is therefore the following: you must prepare to rewrite every PLR ebook and PLR article so that it becomes truly unique. If you do, it may very well serve you better in the search engines. Having unique material will at all times be a good thing as seen from the viewpoint of the search engine robots.

The visitors are, of course, another reason to provide good content: for who wants to visit a new website and read an article or ebook that one already has read somewhere else? So even if the search engines very well might have overlooked a duplicate or near-duplicate article or ebook, your visitor may perhaps not be quite as understanding. To serve your customers well, nicely rewritten articles and e-books are simply a must.

Yet another reason for rewriting may be this: no one thinks just like you. So you may discover that the PLR article or ebook that you just bought didn’t cover all the conclusions that you thought it would cover. Or maybe the writing manner was not what you would have anticipated? Or maybe there were some incorrect “facts” in it? Regardless of the exact state of affairs of the PLR article or ebook that you have bought, you need to plan to rewrite the material in a serious way in order to take full advantage of it.

Here are some, I hope, effective methods of how to modify your PLR article or ebook for improved results:

1. Modifying the title

Sometimes PLR articles and ebooks have titles that do not fit the text. So then you should change the title into something that is more to the point. This is especially important for proper search engine optimization. So stay on topic.

And even if the PLR material does not have a badly chosen title, you still have to edit it, for it must not be the same title as in the PLR package (which dozens or hundreds of other markets may not have changed before they published it). So you may want to spend some time with Google’s free keyword tool to see which title would be most fitting.

2. Rearrange paragraphs

It is not uncommon to find that, especially in low-quality PLR content, that paragraphs are arranged in a somewhat peculiar order. There may be many reasons for this, including that the paragraphs may not originally have been written to produce the current PLR text.

Whatever the reason for this is, you may be able to fix it, or at least make it better. Just copy and paste some of the paragraphs so that you make a better flow. Even without typing a new word!

3. Delete paragraphs

Deleting one or several paragraphs is another way to “rewrite” or reorganize the paragraphs. This way may be especially proper to apply when one is reworking PLR articles and PLR ebooks of low quality, where there may be many paragraphs that fit less well with the theme of the PLR article or ebook.

4. Modifying paragraphs

Here is another procedure: keep the basic ideas and focus of each paragraph, but express the ideas in different ways. For instance, instead of writing “the Sun is very far away”, you could rewrite that phrase as “the star of our solar system is at a distance from earth of about 150 million kilometers.”

5. Making paragraphs more detailed

Even if the above method to alter the text is useful, the real strength of rewriting lies in the expansion of paragraphs. By using this method, you can make your reworked text much more unique and useful to your customers.

When I say “expanding a paragraph” I do not first and foremost think of it as a process of substitution, but as a process of addition. This process entails the adding of, for example, new questions, new arguments, new propositions, new reasons, new conclusions, new viewpoints, new data, new figures, etc.

It is true that all these new items may make a paragraph much longer, and there may be a need to split a paragraph up to accomplish that. But that is just fine, for it makes your rewritten ebook or article even more unique.

6. Adding Relevant Links

Some PLR products include links and keywords. In some cases you may want to keep those. In other cases you don’t. Instead you may want to insert your own links and keywords that might be more appropriate for your purposes.

But whatever you choose to do, be careful with relevance. Do not, in most cases, add links that are not relevant to the text. So if you, for example, have written an e-book or article on forex trading, don’t include a link to a page on how to train a poodle. Stick to the topic.

Final remarks

Using PLR articles and PLR ebooks may certainly be a step towards an increase of your internet income. But be careful to really edit your PLR articles and ebooks so that they become not only unique but also factually correct and interesting to study.

In addition to the half-dozen editing tips I have described above, you also may want to think of other ways of editing the material, such putting in new graphics or videos. The more thought and personal touch you put into your editing, the happier your readers will be.
